Are these good Credit Card Merchant Services fees?

Posted on June 26th, 2010 by admin

I have a business in the service industry that I recently got credit card services. What do you think of these sign up and monthly fees?

$100 sign up
$10 per month
$2.5ish%
$25 monthly minimum. I just discovered what the hell that means, and they (CC services) wants you to think it’s only $25 you have to process.

I was sort of lied to by the people who signed me up. When I asked what that minimum monthly they said it didn’t apply and got me to focus only on the $10 per month. I’m a little pissed and feel deceived. Nevertheless I’m stuck on a contract, but I would like to know if these fees are reasonable. Btw, I had no idea accepting credit cards costs the merchant so much.
meant to say 2.5ish% per transaction.

Actually, those look pretty typical. I’ve seen some as high as 4% per transaction. The $25 minimum for low volume is also typical.

Yes, credit cards cost the merchant. Most consumers don’t realize this. When I set up our Homeowner’s Association to accept credit/debit cards, I used Pay Pal because they have no minimums, just a straight percentage per transaction and no other fees at all. However, a web based solution may not work for your business.

Two short-term incidents of asbestos exposure, is my risk high?

Posted on June 19th, 2010 by admin

1. My mum removed old vinyl flooring that had been covered with our tiles to put down new tiles in the kitchen. We didn’t really know about asbestos till after and this is an old house (built in the 50s). I walked around in the room for a day and even prepared a meal in there, before we found out and had the floor sealed and wiped all the surfaces down. We phoned the enviromental health people and they said those tiles may have had a very low level of asbestos, but I’m worried about the adhesive that was used too.

2. I was asked to scrape some old sticky-tape off a wall at work in a cleaning cupboard. I noticed the wall next to it (a corner support) had an asbestos warning sticker on it so I told my boss. He said it was just the wall with the sticker and i had nothing to worry about, so I carried on scraping, bits of paint flaking off as I went. It was only when I got home I read that the type likely used on structural supports is the spray coating (most dangerous) and that it has often splashed onto surrounding walls during construction. I am now kind of terrified. It was just the paint that was flaking off, and I know that the room had been painted many times since the 80’s, but I think there’s still a risk.

I’m a worry-merchant by nature and I’m scared I’ll spend the rest of my life worried about these two events. Am I likely to get an asbestos related disease like cancer?
ps I don’t smoke

Any exposure to asbestos fibres presents a theoretical risk and is therefore best avoided so far as possible. But based on what you have said I would consider the risk was very low.

Hope this puts your mind at ease.

does anyone in corpus christi, tx us merchant service club services?

Posted on June 16th, 2010 by admin

i got info, but need to know if anyone uses this service? we are starting up a business and need help in setting up our credit card machines…..i contacted them, but it sounded to good to be true! if anyone knows of any legit companies ……….please let me know!

When I first started my business I chose Costco merchant services but it turned into a nightmare after I found out they sold my account to a different company and my rates skyrocketed. They made me pay a cancellation fee too, I was so upset I switched a few times and am now with North American Bancard. The customer service agents are really friendly and honest. When I received my statement everything was exactly what they quoted me. Solicitors call me everyday and they try to beat the rates I have but give up after I tell them what I pay.

What is the cheapest third party service for online credit card processing?

Posted on June 8th, 2010 by admin

Third party and not a merchant account.

There are no such things that are legal in the US for private entities.

You cannot accept credit cards without being a merchant, and having a merchant ID.

If that werent the case, then the local druggie on the street corner could set up a way to take credit cards for his dope, and then launder the money as if it were made legitimately…

is merchant services the same same company as simmit merchant solution in the dallas fort worth area?

Posted on June 2nd, 2010 by admin

credit card company

No. There is no company just called "Merchant Services". It is not possible to register that name for a business as it is the name of the industry. It’s just like a company cannot call itself "Laundromat" or "Restaurant".

What percentage do credit cards charge the merchant?

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin

I think its 1% to 5% that a credit card company makes from the merchant when I use my credit card.
True or False?
Higher or Lower?
Will the new laws that are trying to get passed lower this?
I know credit card companies make billions in profits from merchants like walmart in credit card processing fees.

The people that really make the credit cards happy are the ones that charge everything under the sun on the card – charging up possible 1,000 a month easily and pay in full
By reducing the merchant fees, will credit cards not like those customers anymore since it will be less profit from them.?
I can ask tough questions and always get amazing answers. Thank you so far.

you are somewhat incorrect.

merchant fees are negotiable. they usually involve a fixed amount per transaction plus a percentage. high volume merchants, like walmart, can negotiate lower fees. fees also tend to be lower for debit cards used in debit mode(enter your pin instead of sign).

credit card companies(mostly banks) absolutely hate people who pay off their balances in full every month, like me. as they get no chance for any additional interest earnings when i fail to carry a balance.

How To Open Credit Card Merchant Accounts Online?

Posted on May 25th, 2010 by admin

I need a merchant account to process credit cards online, can I open one online?

It’s easy to open a merchant account online. There are many merchant account providers that will let you process credit cards online. PayPal is a popular choice.

But if you need more features that require a true merchant account, I’ve found this one below to be quite helpful in getting setup .. http://www.ElectronicTransferService.com .. it’s pretty fast to get setup and their fees are very reasonable.

You also get a free merchant account when you setup your payment gateway through them.

Hope that helps!
