My merchant service is bank of america and My credit card machine is not working because they tell me they need to download a program but I have to have an analog phone service .In America nobody use analog phone service.Stupid merchant service doesnt help me.I asked them maybe that I can send the machine to them and they can fix but they dont do that too.I am going crazy .Please help me!What I can do or to where I can make a complain about them
I am not asking or analyzing analog phone service which I couldnt get anyway in NY.Joe r are you trying protect these companies or answering my question.I am trying to find a solution for my merchant machine.I dont need to explain all the trouble they gave me but I deal with them everyday so do not try make me look bad here ok.

what are you talking about in america nobody uses analog phone service??

sure VoIP is gaining popularity with consumers across the country, but there are still plenty of POTS (plain old telephone service) lines – which are just normal landlines, which are analog…

most businesses that have a credit card machine, fax, dial up modem, ATM machine, alarm system etc… should have at least one (analog) landline phone line for such uses….

what could you possibly complain about? that the telephone network has been around for over 100 years, and 100% of the population have access to reasonable priced service to this network, but because you moved your business over to some VoIP service, and did not leave any analog lines in your business for fax or credit card machines that it is somehow the responsibility, or problem of your merchant banker?

EDIT: you are saying that you can not get analog phone service in the US… or NY… analog phone service is regular landline telephone service… i still do 8-10 repairs on landline phone lines every day in NY… so I do not understand how you claim that analog phone service is not available in NY… all home/business phone service is analog except for VoIP…

Some merchants, read BOA, tend to be anal about what you "ought" to have. If your credit card machine is of the analog variety, you need to either update it by connecting to an analog line, or get a networked machine or use a web based service. Some of my customers use authorize.net, some just found a bank that takes the Verifone Vx-570 http://www.verifone.com/countertop.aspx which lets them use both dial up or ethernet interfaces.

Even the wholesale club of the China box store has an inexpensive merchant processing sysem that probably interfaces to the network.

Unless BOA gives you great service, I’d just find another bank.
