Where can I get a review of an eCommerce site?

I am doing a small research and looking for a good review of a successful eCommerce site like Amazon.com’s in terms of its services et al. What makes these websites so successful as eCommerce merchants?
It should perhaps include details like the sites policy on design, content, context, etc. Any help on the would be okay.
I dont mind a review of any other successful eCommerce site you have in mind.
I find both wikipedia.com and epinions.com very helpful. Both are open forums where anyone can post info about the ecommerce site. Wikipedia has a more objective tone, whereas as epinions has loads of content.
