what are requirements to become payment gateway service provider or merchant service provider in India? what is the full procedure for it?Please tell me , how much it will cost?

if you want to take money from ATM/credit card
then you need to implement a payment gateway from the respective bank , nd it is very costly to implement a gateway . so check all options before you put any money in the business

Can anybody help with finding a merchant service provider for my new online car hire company.

I need to check/authorise a transaction before we proceed with the hire agreement but i dont need to take the money until the car is returned. If there is no damage on the car then no money would be taken from the card.

I just need to check if the funds required to cover the deposit are available on the card or not

Any help would be much appreciated
This needs to be instant & online, calling the bank would be time consuming and require man or woman power. Calling the bank would also mean we could not operate outside the banks working hours.

There are options out there for you. You can be set up with an internet payment gateway, and run authorization only transactions. I think the online gateway is the best due to the simplicity of set up in taking authorizatiuon only. It can also be used to make the final transaction for payment. Youo check a box in your set up menu to either run a transaction as auth only or a conplete settled transaction.
