Am a merchant that took payment with a mastercard. Payment declined, have only card #. How do I trace it?

Posted on November 6th, 2009 by admin

The response from the transaction service was general decline. i have no contact info on the individual other than her name and card number and expiration date. how can i trace who carries this card and how to get the purchase to go through?

I would contact Mastercard directly. Since you have the card number they should be able to give you directions on what to do…
Every vendor who accepts Mastercard has a phone # to call for inquiries…

Merchant Account For Inc Company in Delaware?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin

Hello,

I have a Site ( i m non U.S ) and For adding More Services like Google Checkout , Authorize.net , payoneer Card , etc I need to Incorporate my Company in U.S . So If i incorporate my Company Using

http://www.bizfilings.com/
and similar sites …

will i be able to Apply for those Merchant Services ? If not what else i need to do ..

Thank you,

You still need to have a social security number and a US business checking account. If you have those combined with a registered US business it will be possible to establish a true US merchant account. Keep in mind credit will be an issue so if you don’t have any, and you probably won’t, you’ll need to find alternative ways to secure your merchant account. Possibilities include getting a US co-signer who has credit, using a reserve or letter of credit.

What would you do if a merchant who accpeted Discover Card tried to persuade you to use a Visa/MC instead?

Posted on September 26th, 2009 by admin

Discover Credit card had been my only credit card for 8 years and don’t have any plans on applying for another credit card. Discovers customer service can’t be beat. Every time I need to dispute a purchase they take care of me and are on my side.

I only have an ATM card to withdraw money and without the Visa logo on it. I don’t want or need a debit card.

I pay at stores, gas stations and restuarants with cash or Discover Card.

Today I baught 2 new tires for my car at a local tire shop. The tire store has a sing in the window that says they accept Visa,MC, AMEX and Discover. When I paid for my tires the owner refused to take my Discover Card. His terminal takes Discover Card. He didn’t want to take my Discover because Discover charges him a 6% fee off of the purchase amount. Visa/MC charge a 1.5% fee off of the purchase amount.

The owner said can’t you use a Visa or MC instead of Discover? I explained that Discover is the only card I have.

I offered to write him a personal check and he refuses to accept checks.

I told him I will drive my car to the bank to get him cash. He refused to give me my car keys to drive 3 miles to the bank.

I told him that he should except my discover card so I can pay him and be on my way.

Unfortunatley because the bank was closed he will not be realesing my car until tomorrow when I bring him cash.
The tire shop owner claims no one has ever tried to use a Discover Card and most Discover Card customers would be happy to use a Visa or Mastercard so the Tire store owner can save money.

Why does a tire shop have a credit card terminal and merchant account with Discover and AMEX if he refuses to take the cards and pay the high merchant fee?
An auto repair bussiness only taking Visa and Mastercard is behind the times.

Many people have American Express or Discover as their only credit cards.

Refusing to take a personal check is also rediculus.
I called Discover Card to complain about this merchant. Discover Card also feels that I should have called the cops.

The account manager on the phone with Discover Card said that this guy sounds strange.
Elindreal

I asked for my old tires back and the shop owner told me he cut them up and threw them in the trash.

He asked if I could use a friend or relatives Visa or Mastercard.

I have an extra car key and was tempted to start up my car and just leave the shop without paying. I was concered that the tire shop owner would have my arrested for stealing.

for small businesses usually VISA/MC fees (after everything) come up to 4-5% .. believe me! … so the business owners thinking they are saving by not accepting discover and especially AMEX are very stupid.
people with amex/discover in general spent more .. another reason to accept them.

and this guy was false advertising.

I know for one www.cruthfields.com but it heard that quite a few other places.
I don’t want to shop at sonystyle.com they are too expensive.

I have a question about a career in the merchant bankcard business ?

Posted on September 20th, 2009 by admin

I am a 33 year old male and I just laid off from my banking job and I am considering getting into outside sales selling credit card machines and other services to small businesses. The job is 100% commission and it is extremely appealing to me. The company basically sets up appointments for me and I got out and sell small businesses on saving money on their merchant account . Im scared to try it because Im not sure if its a secure income. On the other hand, I dont want to go back to work a 9 to 5 job because I like the freedom that being an independant sales gives me. Can someone tell me if outside sales is a lucrative career ? What about the competition ? Can you make consistant income from it ? Is the merchant bankcard business a good business to be in ?

It is risky job. You just have know if you’re ready to take the risk. Even if it seems lucrative because of the 100% commission thing, it’s still up to your skills as a salesman. You should definitely clear all clouds with your employer. If your company is still a start-up company, then struggles are expected. Merchant accounts are challenging to deal with, but you just have to know how when to strike.

Would these be considered good rates for merchant services?

Posted on September 14th, 2009 by admin

Rate 1… 1.49% Debit card swipe (no pin number entered) +.20 per Item

Rate 2… 1.99% Credit Card Swipe +.20 per Item

Rate 3… 2.59% Credit and Debit card manually keyed in +.20 per Item

Rate 4… 3.24% Corporate Cards +.20 per Item

$0.20 Per batch
$0.70-$0.96 no percentage rate for debit cards with a pin number entered.

Other fees that may apply:

$ 19.95 Monthly fee (waived if you process $5000 a month or 100 transactions a month or own
your own equipment)
$0.15 T&E authorization fee (American Express)

The rates you listed above are competitive and can be considered a good deal. The only real concern I would have is that $19.95 monthly fee which is about $10 too high. But it does sound like they are including the cost of leasing a terminal in there so if you do own your own equipment it becomes reasonable again. I do recommend purchasing your own equipment as it will be the most cost effective way to go about acquiring equipment. eBay auctions usually offer the best pricing by a mile. Just make sure they don’t require a merchant account to get their special pricing (not very common anymore).
