What are the steps to transfer a regular website to an ecommerce site?

Posted on February 8th, 2010 by admin

Hi,
I have a website hosted and working that I would like to transfer into an ecommerce site.

The site is www.tattecookies.com, I would like to keep the same css (same look and feel) when someone will buy via the internet.

What are the steps I need to do in order to achieve something like that (creating an ecommerce site from the one I already have)?

What are the cost associated with it? Can I keep my merchant cc processing company? what other cost will I have to set it up and maintain it?

I am new to the ecommerce site, so any insight would help.

Thank you

Your website is using Windows based CMS(contents management system). Contact your web designer and ask him what it is. And find out if this CMS has ecommerce plugin or component.

question about webhosting, ecommerce!?

Posted on December 15th, 2009 by admin

what is the best solution for webhosting/ecommerce when it comes to starting an online business.

right now i have an account with host-gator. I tried the whole yahoo stores/ebay stores {prostores} and hate the generic templates along with the monthly fee for using them. I just want to install my own shopping cart, from my knowledge i gained so far i like zencart and oscommerce, maybe cubecart.

but if someone has a guide for webhosting it would be great or a checklist, heres what i need to know, plus any additional information you would like to give.

best site for web hosting/ecommerce, using "host gator" right now.

best merchant solutions along with best shopping cart.

anything else i need to know?

Here’s about 100.000 pages about it:

I checked the source page and it’s XHTML, you can’t reuse or reprint the page without saving it first, and since it is a protected site (copyrighted) you may not be able to reuse it if the programmer has encrypted any of the data.

It does show a public page file, so it most likely is not encrypted. What exactly are you trying to do with the page?

How does shipping work exactly, if I get a Yahoo! merchant ecommerce, then the ecommerce site will come up with a shipping price automatically, but at the post office, it is determined by weight. Is there ever a conflict in the prices at the post office and what the site generates for shipping

Shipping is seperate from the price of the product.
On your E-commerce site you would list your price, and include another charge for shipping.

For example, Item costs $50.00 plus shipping and handling.

Yahoo! Web Hosting and Ecommerce – Difference?

Posted on November 3rd, 2009 by admin

Hi.

I’m in the midst of opening up an online store, and am currently looking here on Yahoo for my web hosting needs.

I’m unsure of the differences between Yahoo’s Web Hosting and Merchant Solutions options. Which would I choose if I wanted to sell items on my web page? Does the Web Hosting option lack that capability?

Thank you.
Umm… No thanks "B fooled"
Why can’t someone just answer my question? Am I asking for too much? Seems like people just wanna post junk, or completely off-topic.

Yahoo Web Hosting, or should I use the Merchant plan that Yahoo offers to get my site up and running? Christ.

Let me tell you a little about my experience with web hosting companies over the years. At times you will come across deals that are almost too good to be true – cheap web hosting with amazing features! There are hosts that while offering cheap prices do back that up with excellent performance and service, but there are things to be noted:
There are a lot of potential questions you must ask yourself, whilst bearing in mind other peoples reviews, their reputation, and ultimately – the price. I personally use http://www.topwebhostingslist.com to see what web host is getting the best reputation as well as the bad, which helps me decide who to stay away from.Your experience might be different but I have many complaints from PowWeb and Dot5Hosting. Those companies just took my money and provided me with bad customer support and my websites would always be down. Today I use webhostingpad Host for my web hosting and I’m very satisfied. As long as you do a little research before buying your web hosting you will be fine!

Do you think that the PayPal payment option is really necessary for an eCommerce website?

Posted on November 1st, 2009 by admin

I own a Yahoo! Merchants Solutions store and I’m trying to figure out the pros and cons of accepting payments through PayPal. Is it really necessary? I understand that PayPal has become a widely used method of payment and a lot of people actually prefer to pay through PayPal rather than pay by non-PayPal credit card payments (I guess they find some security in paying with PayPal?). I already have a merchant account set up to accept regular credit card payments. Is it really a good idea to accept PayPal, too? The good thing about accepting payments through PayPal on my website is that a customer does not need to be registered with PayPal in order to use it. That is definitely a plus. Is there anyone that owns a website and has had a good experience accepting PayPal AND regular merchant acc’t credit card payments? Is there anyone who has had a negative experience accepting PayPal payments on their

If you are serious about selling your products to any potential customer you will offer as many payment options as you can including postal order/cheque pay pal is a Standard,

would you own a shop without accepting cash but only credit cards?

Use you common Sense and give us as many options as we need to make a Sale

Im building an ecommerce site. Can I build a site with a shopping cart or do I need to buy a merchant gateway?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

I am building a ecommerce site and am wondering if I can add a shopping cart into build or do I need to buy a merchant gateway seperately?

Microsoft’s Office Live Small Business service lets you add a shopping cart, and you can process credit cards through the site meaning customers can shop your store with ease.

Does anyone know how well Yahoo Ecommerce works.?

Posted on October 25th, 2009 by admin

I am thinking of starting an online store for selling my Wedding flowers and accessories. I have tried ebay – Too costly, as I like to keep my prices down for brides on a budget. I have been looking at Yahoo’s Ecommerce Merchants starter and am wondering if anyone out there uses it and do you actually get business. I have been doing this for over 20 years and am trying to expand to the online world. Thanks for any help, advise, experience that you can give me.

I have a friend that had used it previously and had no problems. I just talked to her and she said she would encourage you to try it out.

Good Luck!

What type of credit cards are used the most in the UK?

Posted on October 25th, 2009 by admin

Hi,

I’m starting up a US ecommerce website, that will be accepting Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and Discover cards.

My website will also be selling to UK customers, so I was wondering if the credit cards listed above are used a lot in the UK??

The reason I ask is because I’ve been looking at some UK websites and they all list the following credit cards: Solo, Maestro, Switch, Diners Club, Delta, and JCB. But my merchant account can’t process these types of credit cards; so will UK customers not want to buy from my website because of this??

Thank you,

snowking

Solo, Switch, Delta are not credit cards they are debit cards where the money is taken out of a bank account instantly.

Diners Club is a credit card, don’t know about the others.

Visa is the most popular and widely used credit card in the UK
