i lst my credit card called up the bank to stop/block my card but it took them a while to respond to it and in the interim someone took asale on my credit card, bank is asking me to pay for this? whereas the signatures do not tally and merchant has split the transactions as well it seems merchant is also involved in this and bank is sheilding him. I dont want to pay. what are the consequences and what is my liability if i dont pay?

Is it a credit card or a debit card? If it’s a credit card, you contest it. They can’t go after you while you’re contesting it, so you don’t have to pay it. However, you’ll get overcharge fees if you charge past your limit, and this is included.

Technically, they don’t charge you more than $50 for it, but you will have to submit a statement in writing about what happened. I had to get it notarized, which cost $10. It took about 2-3 months to settle, but I didn’t end up paying anything, and they took the interest charges off, too.

Keep pursuing this and complaining, put everything in writing, and do what they tell you to do. You probably have to file a police report, too. If you call, get names and keep a log of all conversations. Ask to speak to a supervisor if they give you trouble. But it is best to put it in writing.

Do credit card companies require a merchant to sell a product to submit a charge?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin

For example, do online cash advance companies just charge a credit card for cash, pay the transaction fee to the credit card company and charge their own fee to the customer; thus, a cash advance company would take no risk? Then, could a person create a site to do the same and just undercut the margins in this business?

I’m not sure of if you can get a merchant account without a product. What I do know is that my bank’s ATM network is already undercutting YOUR cost for cash advances.

Can somebody tell me what regulates or governs transactions between a merchant and a credit card company?

I want to file some formal complaints involving my business merchant account and a credit card company. Trying to figure out the best way to go. Do I file a complaint with the state they are located in via attorney general? Appreciate any ideas.

In my experience the credit card company sets the rules and the merchant accepts them. If you’ve tried to work out your disagreement with the credit card company but couldn’t reach resolution you should turn to whoever is named in an arbitration clause if one is present in your contract. I doubt that an attorney general is going to be interested in your dispute unless it involves fraud or other criminal activity.

What does your company attorney say about this?

Can a merchant decides to transfer their credit card discounts (fees) to the customer? If not, how do you repo

Can a merchant decides to transfer their credit card discounts (fees) to the customer? If not, how do you report them? I understand from a number of sources that it is against card association regulations, but can’t find a site to report non compliance

Passing those fees to the customer is against the merchant agreement. Call Visa or Mastercard and report them.

You won’t get a refund but you might make trouble for the merchant.

Credit card company gave me a permanent credit, the merchant is suing me for the money, what should I do?

I went to Huntington Honda dealer in Huntington, NY 11746 and placed the order for brand new vehicle.
Ordered few accessories including 1) Fog Light 2) All Season Mat 3) Cross Bar 4) Cargo Board 5) Backup Sensor
Went to pick up the vehicle on Nov 14, 2005 in the evening.
Gave the cashier’s check for the huge amount and some remaining money ($2149) by credit card
Realized next day that the backup sensor were what I ordered. Went through lot of hassle to get it fixed.
Had to dipute credit card charges.
The credit card bank converted the temporary credit that they had given me to a permanent credit.
They send me a letter saying that their investigation is over and that the temporary credit is now a permanent credit.
Under the terms and condition of the my credit card it mentions that if I am not satisfied with the purchase and tried in the good faith to resolve the issue and not happy with the result, I do not have to pay the amount.
Dealership is suing for $2149 on credit card

Sounds like you eventually got what you ordered and it is working properly? If so I don’t understand what your problem is? You owe them 2149.00, period. Just because the credit card made it a permanent credit doesn’t absolve you from having to pay the debt. Now, if your disputing the amount you owe because of the hassle you had to go through to get what you ordered then that is a different issue entirely and you have to settle with the dealership for that amount. But either way you owe $2149.00 or an amount that you settle for with the dealership.
