Which is the best Credit Card processing Company for a small merchant to use? The fees are very high!?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

Online or brick n mortar?

Online the cheapest I’ve seen is Google Checkout, but to get the best rates you need to be high volume.

Brick n mortar varies, but you usually get much better rates with a swiped transaction compared to an online transaction. Usually, your areas largest bank will have the best deal. Chasepaymentech, for example, has good rates for swiped transactions.

Best way to lower your fees is to force/require debit card use, as debit transactions are the cheapest.

How Do You Choose A Credit Card Merchant Accounts Provider For Your Online Business?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

I just started my internet business and am accepting payments through paypal, but I need more features than paypal can provide me with, like one time offers and such, so I will need to get a merchant account and start accepting payments that way.

Can anyone help me find out more about how to choose one?

Hi.

Choosing a credit card processor requires a little bit of research that you can do online for free. I’ve been there so I know what you are going through.

I started with paypal too but quickly realized that I needed more features. That’s when I decided to open a merchant account and accept credit cards through a payment gateway.

During my research, I came across http://www.electronictransferservice.com and was able to learn so much about merchant account and credit card processing. I was even able to call them up and talk to a live person.

Now I’m not recommending you sign up with them, but the information on their site is definitely worth reading over, especially their FAQ page.

For example, one of the biggest things you need to keep in mind when picking a credit card processor are the fees.

You have to watch out as some companies have hidden fees and they can add up pretty quickly.

And that’s just one of the things, there are many more details that you’ll have to learn about.

I actually went with another company but the information I learned prior to choosing one proved to be very valuable.

Hope that helps point you in the right direction.

Good luck!

what reliable merchant service can i use for online selling which has low comission?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

I dont trust paypal, i have bad experience with them even though their comission was reasonably low.

Do you want good, or do you want cheap……?

There are a whole host of ‘good’ providers out there, but they all offer a wide range of stuff for their charges. You need to shop around for what works for the specifics of your business.

Where Can I Find Companies That Do Credit Card Transaction Processing For Internet Business?

Posted on December 17th, 2009 by admin

I’m starting my own online business and need to process credit cards. I’m familiar with paypal and clickbank but would like to see if getting a merchant account with credit card processing features be a better fit for my business.

However, I know that many banks do not like internet businesses, so is there a company that specializes in this type of accounts?

Hi. I agree that local banks aren’t too fond of giving individuals doing internet business a merchant account with credit card processing features.

I know, I’ve been there. That’s why I went with paypal when I started my online ventures.

But there comes a point in time when your sales will eventually be large enough to make you want to go with your own merchant account credit card processing.

But it’s not a step that should be taken lightly. There are many things to watch out for and you have to be well informed before choosing a company to go with.

For my company, when it was time to take the leap, I first searched online, like google and yahoo, and found a few companies that had great features, and some offered free merchant accounts.

One in particular is http://www.electronictransferservice.com .. now I’m not recommending that you go with their service, but at this website, I found a lot of information on credit card processing and companies that provide the service.

You should check out their FAQ page, it’s filled with tons of useful information. Another good thing is you can call them and ask questions and get answers from a real live person. That really helped me learn how all this stuff works.

I eventually went with another company, but at least I had the information I needed so I was able to make the best choice for my business. You will have to look into it yourself and figure out what kind of features you want and need.

But one of the main things is fees. You will want to make sure that you don’t get charged excessively, and that is one of the things you will have to make sure you know about, because there’s a lot of fees involved.

But with the right amount of effort and time that you put into your search for the right company, you should have no problems finding one that fits your internet business.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Does anyone have experience with Merchant accout services?

Posted on December 17th, 2009 by admin

We own a small pizzeria and are looking for a merchant account to accept credit cards. I went to our local bank and they gave me some information. I have an appointment with the serv agent tomorrow to discuss our possibilities. Any information I should look closely at? or any important questions I should ask?

Indeed there are some very important questions you should ask, assuming you haven’t already had the meeting… choosing a payment provider to accept credit cards is very important as I’m sure your aware, and signing up with a local bank can be great, although is typically more expensive.

Questions to ask:

1. What are your rates going to be, on swiped cards, over the phone, and etc.
A. Ask about gateway fee’s, service fee’s, equipment fee’s and etc.
Merchant providers like to charge people for tons of little fee’s that can add up to hundreds per month.

2. Ask them how and when your batch will be settled. For instance will they pay you every 2-3 days, will it be at the end of the week/month? And will they have a rolling reserve (Hold 10-30% of your profits in reserve for chargebacks/refunds and etc.)

3. What are your processing terms, and how do you handle chargebacks and refunds?
Chargebacks can be a huge risk for any business, if people are disputing credit card charges it really cuts into your profits. Most providers handle them differently, and it’s good to know exactly what your going to be paying per-chargeback, and how you can fight the chargeback if the transaction was valid or if someone used a stolen credit card.

PS. In retail chargebacks usually aren’t such a big deal, however when accepting payments via phone and internet it’s much more common.

Well hopefully I didn’t overwhelm you with information, as a business owner myself I find it extremely important to educate others and make sure others don’t have the same problems I did initially. Accepting credit cards is exciting for your business, however it can also be very dangerous.

If your looking for other solutions I would definitely check around before committing to your local bank.

I can personally recommend Prosper Merchant Services ( http://www.prosperms.com ) and if you want a big time processor Merchant Express (http://www.merchantexpress.com/) are great but won’t provide very good service and won’t get to know you on a first name basis.

Best of luck to you, I hope everything works out and my advice was useful.

What Merchant Credit Card Processing Services Do I Need To Accept Payments Online?

Posted on December 17th, 2009 by admin

I’m starting an internet business and will need to accept credit card payments. Should I use something like paypal or should I just get my own merchant account and payment gateway? From my initial testing, my sales look very promising and I’m expecting a lot of business.

Hi. I had the same decision to make when I was starting my online business so I know what problems you are facing.

At first I used paypal, but then my sales were increasing very quickly and I knew I needed to switch to a merchant account/payment gateway setup to handle the larger volume.

I came across this website, http://www.electronictransferservice.com and they really helped me learn a lot. There’s plenty of information on their pages and I discovered so much about how all this works with processing credit cards. Their FAQ section is definitely worth a look.

I’m not recommending you sign up with them in anyway, but I did contact them and was able to get all my questions about merchant credit card processing answered from a real live person. That was pretty cool.

I eventually went with a different company, but at least I was armed with much more knowledge than when I first started.

I’m thankful to say that my business and sales have been doing well and making the switch was, to me, a good choice. You’ll have to determine for yourself if and when you will make the switch.

One thing though, if your volume of sales is not enough to cover the costs of processing fees, then I would go with paypal and just wait till it does.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Which Business Credit Card Processing Companies Are Good?

Posted on December 15th, 2009 by admin

I need to open a merchant account for my business to process credit cards, which ones out there have good rates? I’m looking for a company that has good customer service too.

Hi. I’m looking for a good credit card processing service myself but everyone I’ve talked to says to just go with paypal, 2checkout or clickbank because of all the fees of using a merchant account.

I found http://www.merchantaccountbasics.com and it has a lot of info on fees and other stuff so I think it’s worth taking a look, I know I learned a lot from it.

Anyway, I’m gonna stick with paypal for now and wait till my business grows big enough to support using my merchant account for processing credit cards.

Good luck, hope that helps.
